Reading together is one of the most important things families can do to help children succeed in school. Read to Rise makes it easy by providing FREE literacy activity kits filled with fun, hands-on learning experiences that build the skills children need before kindergarten.

Available at Hart Memorial Central Library in Kissimmee, each kit focuses on an important early literacy skill and includes activities the whole family can enjoy together. Plus, you’ll earn prizes along the way!

How it Works

Visit Hart Memorial Central Library and check out one of the eight Read to Rise kits located in the Children’s Area.

Step 1

Take your kit home and scan the QR code inside to watch the instructional video before completing the activities together.

Step 2

After you’ve finished the activities, scan the final QR code and complete the short survey.

Step 3

Return your kit and check out another one!

The more kits your child completes, the more they learn.

Who is Read to Rise for?
Read to Rise is designed for families with children from birth to age 6. The activities are created to help young children build early literacy skills that prepare them for kindergarten and lifelong learning.

How much does it cost?
Nothing! Read to Rise is completely FREE for families. Simply visit Hart Memorial Central Library, check out a kit, and start learning together.

Do I need a library card?
Yes. A valid Osceola Library System library card is required to check out Read to Rise kits. Don’t have one? Visit Hart Memorial Central Library and the staff will be happy to help you sign up.

How long can I keep a kit?
Read to Rise kits follow the Osceola Library System’s standard checkout period. Please check with library staff for the current borrowing and return guidelines.

Can I complete the kits in any order?
Yes! You can complete the eight Read to Rise kits in any order. Each kit teaches a different literacy skill, so families can choose the topics that interest them most while working toward earning prizes.

How do I earn prizes?
Complete the activities in each kit and submit the short survey by scanning the final QR code. After completing four kits, you’ll receive one adult and one child admission ticket to Wild Florida. Complete all eight kits to be entered into a drawing for a Wild Florida Family Four-Pack, including an Airboat Ride or Safari Park experience.
